A LITTLE RAIL KNOW-HOW

Give your travel time a little room

Compare alternatives that still get you where you need to be.

Check nearby departures

If your schedule allows, compare earlier and later departures. Look at duration, changes and the time you need to reach your destination after arriving at the station. This site does not identify which departure is cheapest.

There is no universal Off-Peak start time

Off-Peak restrictions depend on the ticket and route. Use the restriction shown on the fare, including the outward and return conditions. A departure after a particular clock time does not automatically make every ticket valid.

Try a different day when it is practical

Search an adjacent day if your plans permit. Include extra accommodation, local transport and other trip costs. Avoid trading a small rail saving for a larger cost elsewhere.

Keep connections and access realistic

Allow time for connections and any changes between terminals. Check accessibility and Passenger Assist with the appropriate provider. The cheapest fare on paper may not be a suitable journey for you.
